Pandora.com ROCKS!

Folks below read my comments about last.FM and several commented they liked Pandora. I tried it out again for the first time in a while and have to say it's really nice. Note the new tag to the right of this post from Pandora.

The ability to really easily create a custom radio station is really nice, and their steering/filtering seems to be pretty good. It's not perfect of course - there's no device story, I miss the home page aspects of Mog or last.FM, wish I had more ability to steer the playback...

Lots of interesting activity in this space. Lots of fragments, lots of good ideas.

I was reminded in a meeting with J today how exciting this effort is. Folks should think about how game-changing the completed solution of connected devices, connected services, the PC, a vibrant community, etc... could be. That's what we're trying to create with Zune. That's the promise that got me to jump out of my safe old job and get onboard Argo, and I find that as exciting now as I did when it was all on whiteboards in an unfurnished space.

...now we just need to go get it off the whiteboard, one step at a time...

So, are we left to assume that the Zune Marketplace will have a similar "build your own station" feature?

Hint: Please say yes!

Agreed Pandora does rock. today while I was out and about with my girl I thought of a feature for Zune Marketplace and the Zune it self. Here goes my 2cents:

Tag a song for later listening, in the sense that you are searching through your library and find a song you really love but forgot it existed. you just "tag it for later listening" and it shows up on your zune as playlist o a separate feature all together.

What do you think?

I absolutly love Pandora! :) I listen to it just about every day!

I just wish they'd integrate with MCE/XBOX360... Now that would be a killer feature for me! :)

Dear David Caulton,

You wrote in an earlier post:
"The library is very fast. Even a very large, 25,000 file library is very zippy for scrolling, jumping around, filtering and searching."

Does this mean that Zune will have "Instant Search" like in the new iPod. Because that's the most important feature to me.

Wow, your comments about how everything will work together is what I've been harping on for a while...I even wrote an article about it yesterday.

I think the connected strategy is also capable of locking in users like Apple can only dream of...take a look at the article.

Thanx in advance,

David,

Be sure to check out the PandoraFM mashup! It combines the two sites together allowing Pandora radio songs to be submitted to Last.FM!

Cheers,

Steve
