Things I need to remember to get before the next storm
- even MORE batteries (probably spare bricks from costco just for emergencies)
- even MORE coleman cannisters
- ANOTHER coleman lantern
- lots more candles
- a nicer battery powered fm radio
Things I learned this time:
- you can cook rising crust pizza in a gas barbeque
- a fridge can keep your food safe for only 24 hours
- you can light up our gas fireplace without any power
- the day after a storm, shelves in stores will be completely stripped of everything you need.
- kids go into media withdrawal for 24 hours, then get creative and have fun.
Not sold on a generator yet...we're doing ok as is.

How much food did you lose and what was the cost of that food? How many storms (how much food loss) would it take to pay for a generator that could power the fridge?
Any thing else a generator would have been good for?
-A message from the generator council.
We learned you can get the libery wood stove up to 500 deg and then toss in a frozen steak and some spuds, wrapped individually in foil, and they cook awsomely in just 12-18 min.
Also learned I needed a Freeplay radio. Another Coleman lantern, extra mantels, and oh yea, don't put the kerosen lantern on top of the wood stove (duhh) And Jet fuel is a great substitute for kerosen and cheaper.
