Firmware 1.3 - now without marketplace skipping!

The 1.3 firmware and client launch today. Cesar has the details at http://zuneinsider.com/archive/2007/03/28/firmware-update-1-3-wednesday.aspx.

Thanks to everyone who has been waiting for this update - your patience is appreciated.

From Cesar:
    • We’re fixing the skipping problem that some users were experiencing – that
is, content acquired from Zune Marketplace will no longer skip when played on
      the device.
    • Improved device and software reliability, when it comes to device detection, and improved sync'ing.
    • We’ve made some changes to the FM Tuner so it no longer drains the battery when in sleep mode.

Been listening to my Zune for the last hour and a half and haven't heard a single skip. Thank you Zune team. You will never hear another complaint from again. I really don't care about a clock or video's on ZMP. I just want to listen to music uninterrupted. Now my ZMP pass seems worth it.

Thanks again,
Chris

In fact I'm going to finally get one for my wife.

The client (windows app) seems slower somehow and my album art has disappeared. The zune is skip free and the UI seems faster, especially when skipping between tracks and rating stuff.

You should probably also mention 1.3 of the Zune (Windows) software was released at the same time. Bug fixes, tweaks, etc.

I'm 100% behind Zune's success. But what do you make of the latest NPD #s for Zune? Is this 2 month slide a trend? And what do you attribute to it?

I love the title, "now without marketplace skipping!"

The biggest feature of your firmware update is that after five months Zune finally plays music from its music store.

Remember, not everyone had the skipping problem. I never did.

Remember, anyone not experiencing bugs, get nothing.

Anyone experiencing bugs have reason to be pissed: no other service has had this skipping issue. This shouldn't have existed in even a beta product.

Mine is dead thanks to 1.3. The update failed and took the existing firmware with it. My device is presently a paper wieght and I am NOT happy. Tech support was a waste...they have asked that I return the device. I cannot find anyone out there who knows how to resolve this. I can't be the only one.
